Which Cisco phone is best for most offices?
It depends on your platform. If you're on Cisco UCM or Webex Calling, the CP-8851 is the most popular choice — color display, Bluetooth, USB, 5 lines. For the latest tech, the DP-9861 is the next-gen pick. If you're on a non-Cisco hosted PBX (including Callifi), the 6851 MPP is the best value — same Cisco build quality, lower price, no Cisco licensing needed.
What's the difference between Cisco 6800 MPP and the 8800/7800?
The 6800 MPP runs multiplatform firmware — open SIP, works with any hosted VoIP provider including Callifi. The 8800 and 7800 are available in both UCM firmware (for Cisco's own call control) and MPP firmware (for third-party platforms). The 6800 was designed exclusively for third-party use, so it's optimized for non-Cisco environments and priced lower. If you don't need Cisco UCM, the 6800 is the smart choice.
Can I use Cisco phones without Cisco UCM?
Yes — the 6800 MPP series is built specifically for this. It works with Callifi, 3CX, FreePBX, Asterisk, and any SIP-based hosted PBX. The 8800 and 7800 also have MPP firmware versions that work with third-party platforms. You get Cisco hardware quality without Cisco's call control infrastructure or licensing costs.
What's the difference between the 8800 and DP-9800 series?
The 8800 is Cisco's proven, widely deployed enterprise line — excellent value with mature firmware. The DP-9800 is the newer generation with touchscreens, USB-C, Wi-Fi 6, and a more modern design. Both work with Callifi. The 8800 is better value today; the DP-9800 is the future-proof choice.
Can I reuse my existing Cisco phones?
In most cases, yes — if they're SIP-compatible models (8800, 7800, 6800 MPP, or DP-9800). We can reprovision them for the Callifi platform. Older SCCP-only models may not be compatible. Send us your model numbers and we'll confirm.
Do Cisco phones work with Callifi's hosted VoIP?
Yes. We provision all Cisco phones — 6800 MPP, 8800 MPP, 7800 MPP, and DP-9800 — for the Callifi platform before shipping. Plug the phone into your network and it registers automatically.
