FAQ

Yealink phone questions

Why does Callifi recommend Yealink most often?
Best combination of quality and price. Yealink's microphone and speaker quality rivals Poly and Cisco at a significantly lower price point. The T57W in particular offers premium features (7" touch, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) at a price that other brands charge for mid-range phones. For most offices, it's the smart buy.
What's the difference between the T7 and T8 series?
They launched together as Yealink's current generation, aimed at different users. The T7 series is the mid-range line — refreshed design, great audio, dual Gigabit Ethernet with PoE, and Wi-Fi 6 on the W models. The T8 series is the high-end line: every model has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 built in, USB-A and USB-C, AI noise cancellation, an emergency button, and a bigger display, with Android on the T88 models and optional cordless or video handsets. Use the T7 for broad, standardized deployments and the T8 for executives, administrators, and power users.
Should I buy the T7 series or the T5 series?
The T7 series is Yealink's newest line and what we quote for most new installations — sharper displays, Wi-Fi 6 built into the W models instead of a dongle, and a stronger security stack. The T5 series is still an excellent phone and remains fully supported, so if you're adding handsets to an existing T5 deployment, matching what you already have is usually the smarter move. For a brand-new install, go T7.
What's the difference between the T73 and the T74?
Display size and key capacity. The T73 has a 2.8" display; the T74 has a 4.3" display and supports up to 50 programmable keys. The T74 is right for reception, dispatch, and anyone monitoring multiple lines. The T73 is right for most other desks — and across thirty phones the price difference is real money.
What does the W mean — T73U vs T73W?
The W models have dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth built in; the U models are wired only. Everything else — display, SIP accounts, USB, audio — is identical. Buy W models to solve a cabling problem, not as a default: a wired phone is still the more predictable phone. If wiring is a problem across the whole office, fixing it with structured cabling is usually the better long-term spend.
What's the difference between the T5 series and T4U series?
The T5 series has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, adjustable displays, and Yealink's Acoustic Shield noise canceling technology. The T4U series has dual USB ports and great audio, but needs optional dongles for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If wireless connectivity matters, go T5. If you're wired Ethernet and want to save money, T4U is the better value.
I have older Yealink phones (T2 or T4S series). Should I upgrade?
If they're working well and meet your needs, keep using them — we still support and configure T2 and T4S phones. But if you need Bluetooth headset support, Wi-Fi, USB recording, or better displays, upgrading to the T7, T5, or T4U series is worth it. We can do a phased upgrade — replacing phones as they age out rather than all at once.
Which Yealink phone is best for a receptionist?
A T77U or T87W with EXP55 modules is the strongest setup — a 7" touchscreen plus up to 84 on-screen keys, and up to three cascading expansion modules for 234 more. The T74U with an EXP55, or the older T48U or T57W with an EXP50, also work well. The point is one-touch transfers to any extension without hunting through a directory.
Can I mix different Yealink models in the same office?
Absolutely — this is what most offices do. Executives get a T88 or T77U, managers get a T74U or T54W, general staff get a T73U or T43U, and common areas get a T30P or T31. All models work together on the same phone system. We help you plan the right mix based on each person's role and call volume.
Does Callifi sell Yealink phones without a phone system?
We primarily supply Yealink phones to Callifi phone system customers as part of their setup. If you need Yealink phones for a different hosted PBX platform, call us — we can usually help and will pre-configure the phones for your system.
Do Yealink phones support Microsoft Teams or Zoom?
Yealink makes dedicated Microsoft Teams phones (the MP series) and Zoom phones that are separate from the SIP phone lineup on this page. The SIP phones here work with standard SIP/VoIP platforms like Callifi. If you need Teams-certified hardware, see our Teams-certified phones and paging page — we supply the MP E2 desk phones and the CP965 Teams Edition conference phone, and install them across NYC.
